What was it about the accounting industry that drew your interest?
I was always interested in how businesses operated and believed that public accounting was the best way to learn how different businesses functioned.
If you hadn’t become a CPA, what job would you have chosen and why?
I would be an investment banker or a financial planner, maybe even a doctor. I have always been fascinated by all the different investment vehicles people can use to help protect assets and increase estate values. Helping clients achieve their financial goals would be a very gratifying feeling. As far as being a doctor, I’m not sure how serious I was about that dream, but I was good at science and amazed at how the human body works. I liked the idea that there was always something new you could learn to help people with their health issues.
Tell us how you most enjoy helping clients.
There's a distribution/manufacturing company whom I consult with during the year. I enjoy this because it makes me feel like I’m part of the company management and I’m helping them become more profitable. It's a pleasure to make a difference in their company.
What wisdom would you offer to aspiring accountants?
Networking and knowledge are key to making it big in this industry. Focus on an area of expertise you like and market yourself to the appropriate people. Eventually, you will develop the clientele you desire.
What’s your career highlight?
Starting my own corporation and then continuing to grow an accounting practice.
How do you want to be remembered?
As a good husband and father to my twin daughters as well as a good businessman.
Who is your hero and why?
Tiger Woods. His work ethic is incredible and he is always trying to improve his skills even though he is already the best in the game.
What was your first job?
Working at a shoe store.
What word best describes you?
Motivated.

When you are not at work, what do you enjoy doing?
