What was it about the accounting industry that drew your interest?
It was the challenge of analyzing various information and working with others to create a solution to a problem or to provide guidance on how to improve a business plan.

If you hadn’t become a CPA, what job would you have chosen and why?
I would have been a college professor. I enjoy the challenge of identifying how different individuals learn. I also enjoy being involved in groups that have their minds open to possibilities.

Tell us how you most enjoy helping clients.
A good example is a local small business that is run by a family that has a focus on using recycled goods in its products. They are always focused on how their actions will affect others and the environment as well as on creating a profitable business. I enjoy helping people accomplish things they believe in.

What wisdom would you offer to aspiring accountants?
Never be afraid to ask a question—wisdom is shown by knowing what you have not yet learned.

What’s your career highlight?
Being able to provide my parents guidance in a new business venture.

How do you want to be remembered?
As a loving father and husband who knew the importance of life.

What was your first job?
I was a printer’s devil—an old term for an apprentice. Basically, it was a small print shop where I would assist in running the print machines, making notepads, etc.

Who is your hero and why?
My dad. In business and personal endeavors he has been able to affect the lives of so many in a positive way though his kindness and knowledge.

What word best describes you?
Compassionate.

What music/bands do you like to listen to?

I enjoy all genres of music, with one exception. You are likely to hear Phish, Black Sabbath, or an obsure artist coming out of my office.
